The luckless Virgil Guppy has been framed for murder and is now a fugitive. Aided by a dysfunctional family of thieves and unorthodox police procedure, he sets out to clear his name. As the body count rises, Virgil is swept off on a rollercoaster ride that ends with him meeting his destiny.
